T2 Screening Programs

Automated Tools and Outcome Measures (ATOM)

Business processes typically require that patients supplement or re-enter data on lengthy paper forms at initial intake and follow-on visits. The ATOM program is designed to drive improvements by disseminating automated tools that can standardize electronic data capture.

ATOM is a computerized, self-report web application capturing demographic and clinical measures information. The ATOM provides real-time clinician support during intake and follow-on visits; standardizes measures that assist with documentation requirements; tracks clinical data across treatment encounters/settings; aggregates data collection; and systematizes evaluation of treatment outcomes.

ATOM has two web portals of entry - one for patients and one for providers. Both portals are available via a secure Internet connection. ATOM uses standardized measures with established reliability and validity to gather clinical information on PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic, anger, and alcohol and substance abuse. Information about the patient’s medical history, childhood trauma, mental health stigma, marriage quality, combat exposure, family, and military career are also collected. Future plans include increased integration across the DoD; sub-specialty clinic customization; and increased functionality, such as provider assignment of modules, home availability, ad-hoc reporting, DoDSER integration, and AHLTA connectivity.
